We Offer
Complex Cardiac Care
Hillcrest Commons uses the latest technology to offer innovative, comprehensive cardiac care. Our program includes expertise in cardiopulmonary rehab for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure and recovery following coronary bypass surgery, as well as cardiac monitoring for arrhythmia management and heart failure treatment.
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Our orthopedic rehabilitation program at Hillcrest Commons helps patients regain strength, mobility and independence following surgery or a hospital stay for conditions such as fractures, joint surgery, knee replacement, hip replacement and degenerative joint diseases. Receive assistance from our experienced team of professionals seven days a week, as ordered by your physician.
Hospice & Palliative Care
When it’s time to focus on comfort, our compassionate hospice partners provide care right where our residents are living, including hospice and palliative care, the coordination of specialized equipment and medications, complimentary therapies and support for loved ones.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation
We help patients breathe easier with our specialized, comprehensive pulmonary care program at Hillcrest Commons. Supported by our nursing and rehab staff, our respiratory therapists provide advanced pulmonary care for those needing continued management of conditions—such as COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis and post-acute respiratory failure—as well as disease-specific education for self-management and lifestyle modification.
Long-Term Care
Hillcrest Commons’ compassionate team is focused on improving quality of life for our long-term residents who require around-the-clock care—providing the support and companionship needed to foster independence and encourage an active lifestyle.
Certified Memory Care
Hillcrest Commons’ specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia program is provided in a Certified Dementia Special Care unit as designated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Our approach to memory care follows the habilitation model, joining each resident within their reality for happier, more successful days.
Diabetes Management
Our clinical staff provides the education and support patients need to manage their diabetes, including protocols for proper testing and monitoring to achieve successful outcomes if away from, or transferring out of, Hillcrest Commons.
Respite Care
Enjoy a short stay at Hillcrest Commons and receive the care you or your loved one need after a hospital stay or while caregivers are unavailable. Whether it’s for a couple of weeks, a month or longer, our short-stay guests receive everything they need and more.
Neurological Care

Medical Specializations & Wound Care

Hillcrest Commons’ clinicians also provide wound care services, including treatment, monitoring your healing progress and making changes to your care, as needed.
Behavioral Health
The secure behavioral health unit at Hillcrest Commons treats adults of all ages living with chronic psychiatric conditions—such as schizophrenia, clinical depression and bipolar disorder—in a safe and comfortable environment. Behavioral health services include short-term stays for medical stabilization and long-term behavioral health care. Our full-time clinical specialist and specially trained personnel work in conjunction with the psychiatry department at Berkshire Medical Center.
Ventilator Program
Hillcrest Commons’ ventilator program offers advanced respiratory care in a dedicated ventilator wing with a 24-hour interdisciplinary team of respiratory therapists and nursing staff led by a board-certified pulmonologist. Our team maintains close relationships with local pulmonologists to ensure continuity of care for patients transitioning between the hospital, our unit and home. We also include physical, occupational and speech therapy in treatment plans to increase endurance, ability, swallowing strength and communication. Our program focuses on increasing mobility and weaning ventilator dependence whenever possible.
